Volvo Car Sweden is now seeking a Media Relations Manager (Presschef) to the Brand & Communications team with the mission to maintain and strengthen Volvo Cars’ position among Swedish consumers.
As the Media Relations Manager you will lead the strategic PR work as a vital part of our commercial transformation where we see the importance having all communication flavored by the vision of getting our customers to fall and stay in love with Volvo Cars.
What you will do
As Media Relations Manager/ Presschef you drive the global PR plan and messaging on a national level where you create and steer a local PR plan linked to the strategic agenda of Volvo Car Sweden. It’s within your role to nurture media relations and build trust-based relationships with key journalists. Volvo Cars is a vibrant brand with a lot of exiting things coming up constantly, meaning you will write press releases as well as adapt global releases – including creating strategic statements and Q&A’s. You will be the primary spokes person for Volvo Car Sweden which includes potential crisis communication.
A close collaboration with all our teams such as, Social media and Marketing is important as well as your support in Management communication and media training.
You and your skills
- A creative and highly experienced media relations professional with a good working knowledge and a high interest of the ongoing transformation within Automotive.
- Commercial understanding and Consumer Centric mindset.
- An understanding of journalists’ ways of working.
- An ideas generator, able to conceive of and pitch news stories to media and push ideas through to publication.
- Ability to spot and exploit communications opportunities within Automotive business.
- Excellent skills in both Swedish and English (verbally and written).
And on a personal level
We see you as a social and outgoing person, able to build good working relations with professional journalists as well as within the organization. You have the ability to work quickly and independently but is still a team player. You have a nose for news where you’re able to see an angle that might interest a journalist and you are a passionate writer processing the instinctive understanding of how to present information in the right order and in a manner that is likely to appeal to reporters and editors. At the same time you have a lively curiosity about news and current affairs across the automotive industry and the development of the Swedish market.
